Pete Townsend
Unlike many people - who took up the bass because no-one else in the band wanted to stand at the back chugging away on the thick strings - I chose the bass because it seemed to me to be the defining instrument, the sound that made everything else fit together. After all these years, I still believe that without the bass the music lacks its full potential. And now, with a wealth of live and studio experience, covering everything from jazz to jug band music, I’m a Professional bass tutor with a very relaxed style of teaching. The emphasis is on enjoyment, learning about the various approaches to music and learning how different styles influence the music we listen to. Playing bass isn't just about learning riffs and scales, it's also about knowing what to play when and when not to play - the silence in between notes is as important as the notes themselves! Learn as much about the instrument as being able to play it! Learn about being part of a band, performing and composing your own music.
